Every day hardworking people, like you, struggle to make ends meet. In fact almost 20 million people 50 and older are feeling overwhelmed by mounting debt, poor credit or lack of savings. It does not have to be that way. Learning to manage your money better is the first step. AARP Foundation and Charles Schwab Foundation believe that everyone can benefit from smart money habits. That’s why we are offering AARP Foundation Finances 50+. Whether you are trying to meet your everyday needs like rent and food or planning a family vacation, being smart about your money is critical. Our three-part program is simple. Each 90-minute interactive in-person session is designed to help you build habits that can improve your financial situation:
Through Finances 50+, you can also sign up to work with a Money Mentor, a free coach who will provide support and motivation over the phone. Your Money Mentor will provide general financial guidance, help you to apply what you have learned in each session, and help create your Action Plan.
In order to track the effectiveness of our financial capability program, participants will be asked to complete a series of three short surveys that will measure current financial practices. Unless you opt-out, by registering for this class series, you are agreeing to participate in these evaluation surveys, to be administered via email or phone call. Email surveys will be sent to the email address used to register for this class. Should no response to the email survey be received after three attempts, telephone surveys will be administered by Woelfel Research and should take no longer than 10 minutes to collect. Participants will be compensated for their survey participation using the schedule below. Survey responses will be used to create an evaluation report about the financial capability program. However, no personal information or personally identifiable responses will be used in the preparation of this report.
